Scary how quick they lost the right to bear arms......

They can not even own a BB or Pellet gun...

Also he mentioned that still after all these years, they still have amnesty drives...:xmad:

    Interesting article in Time here:

...At huge cost, the government bought from their owners some 650,000 of the newly prohibited guns, which police destroyed. It also implemented mandatory gun licenses and registration of all firearms, helping to restrict to 5% of the population the number of Australian adults who owned or used guns last year, down from 7% in 1996.

There are plenty of Aussies who still buy, own, and shoot all manner of firearms. Longarms and handguns.

It seems to be a little different situation from urban vs. rural.

The initial steps of "getting permission" are a little rough/intrusive, but once you obtain some kind of approval, it's not much different than the "bad states" here (MA, IL, CA)

There are a handful of Aussies that post regularly over on Glocktalk. The photos they've posted....they've got cool toys.

    How quick was it?

What exactly is an amnesty drive?

OMG I have seen videos of the Brits lining up to hand in their guns and it makes me sick.... :xmad:

South Bend and Mishawaka just had one of those gun buyback deals here last month. They had a bunch of people lining up to turn in there guns for that.

I just amazes me how many people are willing to give up their rights so easily.

Depends on how much they are giving per gun. I've got a $50 junk Davis derringer .32 around here somewhere that I'll turn in for $100. With a smile on my face. :)

Do they take BB guns? :):

Ya know, I never looked at it that way. Turn in your old pieces of junk, then take the money and buy a new gun. Great idea.

Kind of like a second Amendment version of "Cash for Clunkers" :)
