my suppressor is filthy. its a huntertown gardian. i shot it about 500 rounds since its last cleaning and didn't clean it right away (i wont make that mistake again).

my quesiton is would it be a terible idea to put the baffles in a vibratory tumbler filled with corn cob media? i read that you can use ultrasonic cleaners but for my reloading i use a vibratory and thats what i have avaible

Are the baffles stainless or aluminum??? I don't think you would have a problem tumbling them with either corncob or walnut media. I bought a cheap media blaster from harbor freight and use glass media on my aluminum baffles. But beware if using a media blaster make sure it's on A low setting.

From what I've read, ultrasonic cleaner is a bad idea if the baffles are aluminum. Should be fine putting the baffles in a tumbler with any media softer than aluminum. Corn cob, glass beads, etc. This is what I've read and I have no personal experience with either processes. I use ATF but still isn't perfect.

Tumbler is fine. Ultrasonic is bad on aluminum. We glass blast 80 grit 40psi. Never any damage to the aluminum.

I'm glad to see this question. I emailed Huntertown Arms on Wednesday with the exact same question (vibratory tumbler, crushed walnut, aluminum baffles) and hadn't heard anything back yet. I probably would have posted the question here today.

Sorry, I assumed (never works out good) that you were the same person who sent the email since is was exactly the same question. I thought I was killing two birds with one stone.

Aha, that makes sense. I didn't see this until today and was starting to become a bit disheartened.

Unfortunately, I've still got months to go before I get to take my Guardian home. Can't wait though!
