Really? It's come to pass in a lot of other places. Idaho, Utah, and Colorado all stop public colleges/universities from interfering with second amendment rights. This has all been in recent history. That "it'll never happen in my lifetime" is used by a lot as an excuse to not do anything.
Heck, it's probably not going to make it out of committee this session, but Indiana State Senator Jim Lucas has pledged to bring the legislation up every session until it passes to stop the ban of firearms on significant portions of public property, including campuses and the statehouse. He's not alone in his support either.
