    I have a Tony Miller red leather heirloom strop. Highly recommended. I use it to sharpen my straight razor mainly, but just recently started using it on my new Mora.

    Harbor Freight has these cheap belt grinders which you can mount on its back (so belt is moving away from you) then purchase a leather belt from Lee Valley. For under $35 you can have a power strop.

    I've had better luck hand stropping until recently. Putting a variable speed foot pedal into the system to slow the belt grinder down and start/stop it seems to be the key to the best edge.

    Subscribing to this thread for reference. I have always stropped with just plain leather. Going to have to try some of these compounds.

    I thought everybody stropped... Oh well, reason 492 why you should wear a leather belt... Or at least I do for that reason
