Regarding the "need" for federal reciprocity legislation, IIRC the Constitution requires the states to recognize the official acts of other states. SCOTUS said the states have to recognize and abide by the 2A, so why not licenses to exercise that right? Yeah, the permission slip is obnoxious but 1 thing at a time

So who are you putting the screws to by doing this? The apparatchiks that run Illinois government, or 2A lovin' Illinois gunowners? Hint -- the apparatchiks would love it if Indiana would implement your policy.

Will the idea would be to anger Illinois gun owners enough that they would step up and do something about how their state is being run.

    Where's the bacon?
As Rhino alluded, there is a difference between recognition and reciprocity. The latter is a mutual agreement between the two states; This is what would happen if we could ever get Gov. Pence to write a simple letter to the (governor of the?) state of West Virginia, acknowledging the fact that the laws of Indiana respect, and mandate that we will honor the CPL of WV. Conversely, Indiana generally has blanket recognition of all. This has been the freedom-centric approach, or at least the best we could expect, for many years.

Now, however, Constitutional Carry is on the horizon. It was introduced each of the last couple of legislatures, but was not heard. Let's make sure 2016 is different! How many of you have written to your state Senator and state Representative? How many have written to Sen. David Long (Pres. Pro Tempore of the Senate) and Speaker of the House Brian Bosma? How about Gov. Pence and Lt. Gov. (and President of the Senate) Sue Ellspermann?

We are now in August. Legislators will be talking to LSA to draft bills soon. I suggest we all write to our legislators and ask them to support Constitutional Carry and the repeal of all state-level and lower so-called "gun free zones".

We can call them "Criminal Protection Zones" all we want, but until they're legislated out of existence, they will continue to exist and protect the criminals and make us unwilling victims.
    Write your letters today!

    Blessings,
    Bill

Illinois gun owners are on the defensive. They have been since Daley made Illinois re-write their Constitution to explicitly state that the police have veto power over the RKBA.

The only way that Illinois will change is when a federal court does it at gun point. You have to understand how Illinois is run to understand what they are up against over there.

what are the numbers of the bills?

Despite Kirk's reply, this is a good question. There are no bills yet; as I said, legislators will be talking to LSA to draft bills soon.

Here's a suggestion. Please modify it as suits your style.
Dear Senator (or Dear Rep.) FillInNameHere,

In the coming legislative session, it is my understanding that a bill will again be introduced to pass Constitutional Carry, which is the removal of the requirement of a license for which people have to pay to be allowed to exercise the fundamental right of self-defense outside of their own property. As your constituent, I know that you cannot represent me if you don't know what I want, so I'm writing to ask you to support the passage of this and other bills that support the rights of the people, as guaranteed by our Federal and State Constitutions. Bills to that effect would include the aforementioned as well as anything removing a so-called "gun free zone".

If you have any questions or require any clarification, please do not hesitate to ask. The favor of a reply to this letter is requested.

    Thank you for your assistance!

Basically, since we don't have a bill number, we have to tell them what issues are important to us. Truthfully, even with a bill number, it's better to do that, on the off chance that you have the number wrong or that they look at the wrong one.

    Hope that helps!

    Blessings,
    Bill

So Indiana should infringe on their rights so that they will be more angry?

Because they aren't already mad at being denied their rights in their home state? :dunno:

GI, please be aware that the Indiana General Assembly is not a full time body. The General Assembly is out of session and is due to re-convene until 2016. It will be a short session (30 days) and must be wrapped up by March 15th.

There are no bills. There are no bill numbers. Everyone keeps their committee assignments. Nothing is going on now, be thankful for it.

As BoR sez, now is the time to contact your rep and state senator and let them know you stand for the RKBA in general. Heck, they might show up at a county fair or football game. Go talk to them. If they are Shelia Klinker, they will show up if 3 or more people assemble for any reason in Lafayette. Heck Shelia Klinker showed up at my card game on Friday night, and brought the pizza (but that is why she keeps winning).
