So, I've decided to take one of my M44's, and do a scout/patrol type rifle. Goal is to do all the work myself, and save some money by making some of my own fixtures, and tooling. So far I've trimmed the stock, separated the barrel and action, cut and crowned the barrel. I'm waiting for a die and die handle to arrive to thread for a flash hider. I will be pillar bedding the stock, and have Rock Solid scope mount and bolt handle ordered.

So far nice looking work.....if you have a lathe, why are you waiting on a die to show up, when you can screw cut your threads for your flash hinder? Lathe will do a MUCH better job threading then a die ever can......btw.....south end 10k lathe?

My lathe experience is very basic, as in high school, 15 years ago. I've never cut threads before. South Bend yes, size I don't know, it's one we have at work. It needs some attention, and doesn't have all the tooling. Thanks for all the compliments, and yes I will keep updating.

Bent bolt, and low scope mount from Rock Solid installed. The weld isn't the prettiest, but it was done with a maintenance shop mig welder, running .035 soild wire. Same stuff we use for fabrication, and equipment repair. Rock Solid recommends bedding the scope mount to the receiver. I'll do that after I reinstall the barrel, and get the receiver final bedded into the stock.

Apparently I forgot to take a picture of the scope mount.....

Barrel and receiver put back together, trigger sear polished, didn't get pics, but got the stock inletted to clear the bolt handle, and for action bedding.
