I picked up a 4506 a couple years ago and it is great, fits nicely between my 645 and 4513tsw. I did have to give it a trip to S&W to replace the extractor; S&W will not sell one they have to install. Not bad though only cost me $14 for postage for my local gunsmith to mail it in. So far it has been perfect since comming home, that solved the only problem (extracton) I have found with any of the three. Jim.

I had an older police trade in 4506 and they're great guns. If you can find one that isn't beat up I would jump on it, they are very underrated. Excellent choice if you're looking for a full size steel frame 45 that isn't a 1911 (as is the CZ 97). One thing I remember about my 4506 was that it had a trigger play spring that got bent pretty easily; it didn't affect the function of the gun, but it made this annoying click with every SA trigger pull.

I prefer the 4506 over the 5906. They both were great shooters but the 5906 just didn't feel right in my hands.
