Ive seen some people put what looks like grip tape on their slide. I have had time when its hot where I have a little trouble gripping the slide to rack it. any tips, tricks?
I guess putting grip tape on the slide would work although i've never seen anyone do it before. Try racking the slide with a scissor like motion using both your hands rather than just racking the slide back with one hand. IE: support side hand on the slide racking back and strong side hand pushing forward on the grip at the same time. You should try to mimic what the slide would be doing if you were to actually fire a round.
well i mean i know how, just sometimes when my hand get sweaty or its wet/oily at all its hard to get a grip.
Some examples though not the best but you get the idea.
I've got a buddy that runs IDPA and 3 gun. He uses a CZ in 9mm and has grip tape on the slide. I made fun of him, but after I wet my hands and had no problem racking the slide, I stopped. It seems effective, but I don't have any guns I could bring myself to do that to.
i've seen lots of people do it, LEO/military like to do it because it makes single hand opertion(racking the slide against a pant leg)easier. imagine trying to rack a slide using both hands, after you break your arm or hand, or have a gunshot wound.

Exactly. People usually stick a strip of sandpaper to the TOP of the slide, so they can rack it using one hand on their leg or hip. This is important for an EDC or HD pistol.
The slide serations on the sides should be all that is necessary for two handed (normal) slide operations.
How are you grabbing the slide with you support hand? Are you leaving the pistol vertical, reaching over the slide with your whole hand and trying to grip the serrations using your palm and fingertips?
I personally haven't found that way to work well for me with any of my pistols. I like to use a different method where I cant the pistol slightly towards my support hand, and grab the serrations between my thumb and index finger, where I can also get a bit of interaction between the first segment of my index finger on the front sight as well. Kind of like twisting off the top of a beer bottle, except pulling back instead of twisting. Seems to require less effort for me for whatever reason, I just can never get a lot of traction with slide serrations in my palm.
