Updated sit-rep: Still doing fine. Cleaning wipes are hit-or-miss, but no problems finding anything else. Even bought a gallon of isopropyl alcohol for my shoe-spraying bottle at the back door.
Yeah, home improvement/hardwares seem to be wiped out and not restocking. I tried two different places to find some replacement screen for the patio door. Neither had the extra-strong or the pet screen. Had to get the regular thin stuff, and I had to end up buying 48" wide and cutting it rather than getting 36" wide. Damned screen was so thin that it ended up tearing and I had to patch it already.I went to Bedford Lowe’s yesterday to pick up some 1x4’s for a little shop project I’m working on. Their lumber area was decimated. Various sizes of dimensional lumber were completely out of stock. No 1x4’s—at all. That’s the first time I’d ever seen that. I guess they’ve cut back on people restocking stuff. Bender’s had them though.
Wife wanted some building materials to make some raised bed type planters on Saturday. It was a nice day. I guessed the new Menards in South Bend would be a zoo, so I convinced her to wait till Sunday. Sunday it was raining and crappy outside so we went and it was still a zoo. The guy who helped us said Saturday had been busier than their grand opening weekend. But they were well stocked on everything.
I have made 3 raised "flower beds" for my garden. Used the composite material so it would not rot out right away. Hope that was not a poor decision in terms of junk in the composite (just thought of that)...
Hmmm, interesting...Are we talking flower beds, or "flower beds"? For those of us who can't afford a 'boating accident'...
Stopped by the local Lowe's on Sunday to see what mulch was selling for and look at some lumber for making some braces for a garden project. The place was an absolute disaster. Couldn't walk down most of the aisles because of boxes and pallets stacked everywhere. It was a real cluster. Doubt I ever want to go back.
That's how Menards was on Monday. I thought it was a fluke, but maybe all the big box stores are downstaffed.
