I have a P229 SAS in 40 S&W. The gun feels great in my hands and is scarey accurate. All of my freinds who have shot it have fallen in love with it. They are a bit pricey. The SAS comes from the custom shop and was $950 new. If I had it to do over I would look for used. It's a great gun but I'm always thinking "Wow, I could have two of these or one of those".

Amazing firearm. Its heavy, ugly, has a pretty low capacity-to-weight ratio; but damn if the thing isn't just about a perfect shooter. I bought mine used in .40sw for about $575 and lucked out finding a local gun store selling factory mags for $15 a pop, so I now have 5 mags.
I just wish the drop-in .357 sig barrel wasn't $150; or I'd carry it in that configuration.

I've wanted a P229 for a long time. They've always been a bit pricey. But yes, I think the prices are going up because of this crazy frenzy. But none the less if all goes well tomorrow I may finally get one. I will have to pay a HEFTY fee for it but it may be now or never.
