    Most shooting benches I have seen are about waist high on me. That would be about 3 feet high.

    I'm not sure if that is a critical dimension. Build the stool to match the bench and I think you will be OK.

    I've considered building one like those that mount to the receiver on the back of a truck/suv....I think cabelas sells them...

    ETA: Cabelas doesn't list them any longer but here is a link to a patent for one....a few minor mods to keep from infringing and it should be gtg.

    The only thing I see different about the one in the link from those I've seen is that there needs to be a support of some sort between the bench and the ground, usually a cheap scissor jack or something of the sort......
