A CETME for less than $500

^This. Try to get the cast stainless receiver - it has less issues in the long run, but might need some trimming to take aluminum mags consistently. Those mags are only $3 to $5. Loud, but recoil is not bad and it is more accurate than it has any reason to be. You might also consider an FAL. If you look for a while you might be able to pick up one with an IMBEL receiver and bipod for about your price. And you can get 30 round mags for about $25.

FNAR. Quite a few for sale on Gunbroker, looks like one could be had for a litle over $900. Accuracy is said to be exceptional.
