Love this response to the article! See below:

Let's see, an unarmed man is shot and killed, and the Fort Wayne DA believes this is "self-defense", because the assailant states he "may have been hurt or killed (by the unarmed man) had he not been armed."
So next time you get into a confrontation in Fort Wayne - just pull your gun, shoot the guy point blank in the chest, and claim "self-defense". Because you may have been hurt or killed (by the unarmed man) had you not been armed.

You know, this points more to problems in the writing of the article. I was trying to figure out how they knew it was self-defense, and I didn't get that many specifics in the article. The article reports an altercation. Did the deceased make death threats? Did he launch an attack? We need more details.

So......... the dude got shot in the pinkie and died? If you have to fight some dude for looking at your girl there has to be some clear cut signs of self esteem issues..

From the second article (am I missing something?):

Another witness broke up the fight and pushed Heinze away when he saw Collier pull out a gun and allegedly fire two shots toward Heinze, police said.

The victim was a buddy of a guy I work with and he said that when Heinze got pulled off of the guy who fired his weapon he was lyin on his back and the shooter walked up to him and fired his shots hitting him in the chest and killing him

Surely this statement from the article had in impact when determining if the shoot was justifiable.

"Witnesses told police that Collier left the bar after the argument and was walking to his truck when Heinze approached him."

Guess who got arrested on a felony Criminal Recklessness charge after a neighbor reported someone out firing shots in a residential area in the wee hours of Wednesday (8/1/2012) morning...it sure wasn't Heinze.
