Hello to all. Loading my first box of jacketed bullets. Hornady XTP. They have a knurled ring around them. Where should that ring end up after being seated? The bottom of the ring at the case mouth. Leaving the whole ring showing, half the width of the ring showing or what would you recommend? Thanks bryon

Usually I just load them to start to what OAL the Hornady manual suggests for the particular bullet. What caliber and bullet weight you using ?

I seat my XTPs to the middle of the crimping grooveas long as it is the right OAL as XtremeVel indicated. I've played around with seating at the top or the bottom and haven't found that it makes any difference. I've never seen them shift.

I'm sorry to thread jack but you wouldn't happen to have the OAL for the XTP 230gn .45acp? I would appreciate it. Thanks

I don't have my books in front of me.
This is what I found online.

Hornady 7th edition loading manual uses an overall length at 1.230" for the 230 grain XTP-HP.
