I like how the reporter went after the Scumbag Son.

He said he didn't visit his mom for 8 months because "he didn't have a key."

    Scumbag.

Another news story said he used the POA to do a Quit claim deed. Who would have thought you can't trust your own son.

That definitely throws a monkey wrench in it. I'm sure it varies by state or by how the POA was drawn up but I believe the POA's I had for my parents stated that they only had to verbally state that the POA was rescinded to be null and void. Say, they were in a nursing home or hospital and I was causing problems, a nurse or someone as witness could verify that my parents said they were rescinding it would nullify the power of attorney.

I have a feeling it will come out that the sons has need for a large sum of money. Be it drugs or gambling debt. If their local media keeps on the story, he will probably give up selling the house for at a little while. If she can take care of herself and has people checking on her daily she doesn't need to be in a home unless its what she wants.
