I am looking to build a .300 Blackout SBR and have a few questions for anyone who may have an answer.
    1) How much is the tax stamp?
    2) What is the average wait time for approval?
    3) Do I have to purchase any specific piece when I apply for the stamp?
    4) Outside of a suppressor, would I have to get any other modifications approved by the BATFE before I procured them? i.e new upper, different barrel etc
    5) What are the current state and federal legislation regarding SBRs?
    6) Can I transport a SBR across state lines?

    .
    1. $200
    2. Probably around a year right now.
    3.
    4.
    5.
    6. You have to get permission first.

    3. You'll need the lower make, model and serial number.
    4. No, as long as you can return it to the caliber and barrel length that is on the approved form 1. Keep in mind a suppressor is a separate tax stamp.
    5. Not sure what you are looking for. I have multiple SBR's and besides having the approved form 1's before finalizing construction I treat them the same as any of my other guns.

    1)
    2) Now it is probably a day after hell freezes over
    3)
    4) If you do not currently have a pistol lower I would not start buying shorter than 16" barrels until you have something to put them on legally... or store the barrel at a place where no lowers are located. Follow the rules on pistols as well... no VFG, no buttstock, etc.

If you want to Form 1 an SBR I would send in the paperwork now. You will have plenty of time to figure out what you want to build before you get the stamp back.
