I buy the Wright brand bacon ends & pieces at walmart, sort out the chunks of fat that are often included and fry up just the meaty parts. I then put them in one of those "quick-chopper" things and go to town. My hand usually hurts but then I have a convenient jar of REAL bacon pieces to add to salads, meat-loves pizza, or just eat by the handfull when I get the munchies... YUM!!!
I said no bacon, but only because I don't trust premade bacon bits. Too soft, and their texture becomes gross. Too hard, and you know they're not real bacon.
If at home and can supervise cooking of said bacon, bring on the salad bacon bits!
In the past I would have said lots of real bacon fried up crispy. Now, since I am trying to get my IWB holster to work without increasing my pant size, I voted no bacon. 12 lbs btw for anyone interested.
I like my bacon fully cooked, not limp and chewy. But like most people on this thread, I don't like the pre-bought bacon bits. I prefer frying mine to a crisp and crumbling it myself.
