Considering buying some 7.62x54R ammo off a friend. Apparently at some point it got wet or condensated and it's pretty rusty. He is thinking he'll clean it up in a case tumbler. His case cleaner just vibrates in corn cob media so i don't see any way there could be an accident.

Would you pay money for rusty ammo? Would you shoot it in your gun(mosin)? Would you consider cleaning it up in a case tumbler/cleaner?

As cheap as 7.62x54R is, I think I'd pass.

Might just be me too, but I wouldn't tumble ANY live ammunition

Unless there's a metric shmit load, I'd try buffing it off with some steel wool, dust it off, and yes, I'd probably try a few rounds out of my 91/30

I doubt seriously that it would be the first nugget that shot rusty ammo and made it through.

Ask for some test rounds to be sure it ignites. If it does and it is cheap, go for it.

No, I would not pay money for rusty ammo. I pay for good ammo.
I'd shoot just about anything in a gun I don't care about. I like my Nagants.
I'd consider anything. It's the beauty of having a mind, and the ability to choose. Just because I'd consider it, doesn't mean I'd do it.
