Can you imagine what it would be like in those break away states that are now autonomous if Russia were to reclaim them by military force? The good old days would be back alright...

Anyone who fought for freedom from Russia, or supported independence would be spirited off in the night, never to be heard from again. They would crack down on the population, put up walls again... it would be the Cold War era all over.

Got that right! That's what he's pushing for. I hope someone can fing a way to stop him. But someone has to get him out of Georgia first.

And that someone, aka U.S., wont do anything. Putin could really do anything. He could take over Georgia, invade the Ukraine, ect. and we will just sit here and tell him he is being bad. The worst part is Putin knows this....we will all just see what happens. We need Reagan to come put Putin in his place.

One could only hope that Bush - on the way out - decides; To H... with it! Move some of our troops/equipment. What do I have to lose.

But then he would have to worry about the affect (or is it effect) that would have on the GOP before the election. (decisions, decisions) :dunno:

MOSCOW: Russia is lashing out at the U.S. over a deal signed with Poland to place a missile defense facility in the former Soviet satellite state.
Russia's Foreign Ministry says the U.S. missile shield plans are clearly aimed at weakening Russia and that Moscow's response to any development beyond the current plans will go beyond diplomacy.
The ministry's statement Wednesday was not as stark as the warning from a Russian general last week that Poland is risking a Russian attack, possibly even with nuclear weapons, by agreeing to host American interceptors.
But it came amid severe tension between Russia and the U.S. over the war in Georgia.
