The Novak rear sight makes a ton of sense to me, especially if you installed one of the adjustable Novak sights available. I wish there was a way to outfit a Smith 686 with one.

Would this make a good revovler to keep in one's truck or would the sp 101 be better?

I would go with the SP101 for a truck gun instead. The GP is way to nice just to sit there.
