Ruger 77/22 vs 10/22 barrels

I know this going to sound like a dumb question to most, but I was always told there is no such thing as a stupid question.

So here goes......

Are 10/22 barrels compatible with 77/22 receivers???

Alright im in ill watch this one because i sold my 10/22 due to favoring the bolt action. Just the action and stock not the barrel though at times i miss the high cap 22 magazines.

Both barrels are very similiar. Difference being the extractors. I believe the 10/22 has 1, M77/22 has 2.

the 77-22 barrel will fit on the 10-22 with about a 1/8" spacer. people on rimfire central.com sell adapters ready made, and the clamping area is different.both pieces come in the adapter kits. i've done it and they work just fine. for what its worth the 10-22 barrel will NOT work on a 77-22 without a gunsmith turning a new shank and clamping area. what are you trying to do?.....daryll

I have be thinking of doing building up my 77/22, going with the barrel first.. Just seems to be a lot more option for the 10/22.

i've built a 77-22 and a 77-17 (wmr frame). they are definately tackdrivers....daryll

BTW, i have 2 stocks for the 77's that i'm going to sell at the swap meet saturday, one thumbhole and one brown laminate.

the large capacity mags work just fine in a 77-22 from the 10-22s but you just cant pull the trigger as fast....d
