Sounds like Sailor & WETSU had a successful venture recently...

Any interest here for something along the same lines, add kayaks & canoes for a trip to Cincinnati or KY?

A weekend this summer would be great.

Thats a great idea. I would throw in some sort of link up between a land party and waterborne parties, hand off a "wounded" person or package that needs delivered back upstream or downstream. Carry "long arms" with you-even if you don't want to carry real steel rifles, I'd male a bunch of sand filled PVC pipes with slings. That way, you will ALWAYS be in charge of your rifle and stow it properly.

Lots you can learn from a trip like this, beyond a paddle and camping trip.

I have done quite a bit of this type of training over the past ten years, integrating small boats and water/land transitions, tactics, landnav, comms, casevac etc.

Me getting ready to get into the water on Lake Michigan last December.

My boat "hidden" after paddling up the shore, and prior to heading inland to link up with my buddy somewhere up in the dunes.

Riverine op on the Wabash, CASEVAC (notice range dummy at the top of the ladder). I paddled in and hooked up with a team mate in the woods above the river. He had a wounded dude prepped and ready to move, and had even built this ladder to get down to the water.

Its all good training, limited only by your imagination.

Fair Warning: Any players of banjo's on either bank of said river during an operation -- whether coincidentally or otherwise -- are guaranteed an azz-kicking.
