The draft is one pen stroke away from being used again. And meanwhile the U.S. continues to provoke wars around the world. I'd hardly say that there is no reason to worry. Enslaving my neighbor is not acceptable either.

If we had the draft, it would allow us to not have to bring females into the military as we would have enough troops. And most minorities and homosexuals would not meet standards either. Over half of the minorities are high school drop outs and nearly half are so obese that it would take decades to get them in shape (we are seeing black kids die of heart attacks by 35 in increasing numbers). We are a nation of basket cases, so screwed up that we could not fight WW2 again if we had to.

We no longer have farm boys who are smart, in good shape and taught to be men. Vietnam was the last war to be fought with any number of farm boys. Kids are more stupid these days. And a lot more screwed up in the health department.

If the Muslims invaded they would walk all over us. After all when Muslims come to the US to go to college what do they see in our future leaders? Is there any greater virtue than having the most elite troops? How about having free citizens?

Not everyone wants to be a part of the machine. Not everyone wants to be bred from birth by the military. Do you understand that forcing people into involuntary servitude is slavery?. It doesn't matter if they are perfectly athletic Aryan males, or loser homosexual minority women, they are not owned by the State.

Some of the best Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors in our country's history were minorities. Just recently a female Army medic got a Silver Star for valor.

We have had SCOTUS decision after decision stating that the 13th amendment does not cover service to the government. Yes you would not like it. But then many boys do not like being forced to go to school either.

We do have a requirement in the 2nd amendment to insure that all males (the militia) are "well regulated". That is a concept from the 1700s that everyone was to maintain a certain standard of behavior. The founders (Hamilton and Madison used similar language in the Federalist Papers).

Minorities, especially blacks, have a 50% drop out rate from high school. And well over half of all blacks are extremely obese (over a third of their body weight in fat). Add to that criminal records, drug usage, tattoos, mental health problems (high level of foster care due to early childhood abuse) and most could not serve.

Mexicans tend to only have a third grade education if they are illegals.

Frankly most of those drafted would not make it through today's selection process.

We required a third of the males to serve back then. One of colonels, who worked as an editor for the Star, wrote a piece showing the numbers. From 1959, the begining of the Vietnam war, to 1974 over 27 million young men turned 18. Of that number, 11 million served in the military. Only 3 million went to Vietnam. So about one third, the same for WW2, served in the military. And one tenth actually went to Vietnam.

I was draftable, had a 1A draft card but was never selected. Then I enlisted once I was 1H.
