For some reason I really like old movies. I love old westerns and war movies. I mean as far back as the 1930s. I dont really know what it is about them. Im only 21 by the way so old movies to most of my friends means Jurassic Park and Billy Madison.

Some examples of old movies I like:

    The Dirty Dozen (1967)
    The Outlaw (1943)
    One Eyed Jacks (1961)
Wild Boys Of The Road (1933)
    Escape From Alcatraz (1979)
    Full Metal Jacket (1987)

If its a well known war movie or western Ive probably seen it, but feel free to recommend me some good movies. I really want to add to my collection.

John Wayne movies that should be in every collection:
(there are a ton of good Wayne flicks but these are my favorites)

    Fort Apache (1948)
    Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949)
    Flying Leathernecks (1951)
    The Quiet Man (1952)
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)
    McLintock! (1963)

Some people don't like these two but I do and they are interchangeable:
    Rio Bravo (1959)
    El Dorado (1966)

If you're not limiting yourself to cowboy movies, "Captain Blood" is a GREAT old pirate movie that was made before special effects became the star!

No I am not limiting myself to westerns or war movies, those are just my favorites. Id like to hear all suggestions. I just ordered One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Cool Hand Luke and Taxi Driver

They all sound really good, but I havent seen them.

I dont think I could get into a pirate movie honestly. I thought Pirates Of The Caribbean was extremely stupid.

since you've got Full Metal Jacket on your list of old movies...

    How about:

    Platoon
    Rambo 1 - 15

Any Jimmy Stewart movie (mr. Smith goes to Washington, It's a Wonderful Life)
    Miracle on 34th St

12 Angry Men (Older version is better)

The Crucible (strangely, the newer one is a little better than the older one)

    Wargames

    Red Dawn

    MASH

My Darling Clementine (well, any John Ford movie)

    Bridge on the River Kwai

Love Wargames, grew up watching the MASH show but never seen the movie (if there is a movie)

The movie MASH is one of my all time favorites. The original Rambo movie, First Blood is wayyyy better than any of the rest which just got silly (like the Rocky series). Also in that vein is the original Mad Max movie, The Road Warrior.

I will check out the MASH movie. There was so many Rocky movies made I honestly get them all confused. I believe there was 5 total.

I've always loved Humphrey Bogart movies (except The Maltese Falcon, which just annoyed me). Casablanca is one of my all-time favorites. The Caine Mutiny was another great Bogart movie.

Casablanca is a definite contender for best all time movie! I don't know how many VHS tapes I wore out before I bought the DVD. I've got a framed comemerative movie poster hanging in the house and also have an old, possibly original lobby poster that somebody had glued to a piece of cardboard.

Any John Wayne movie...and personally, I've got a soft spot for the Spaghetti Westerns.
Other than that, the originals of any remake are usually pretty good (some would say better...including me, at times). For example, the original 3:10 to Yuma.
