I know I suggested the browning above, But upon more thinking I would also go with a Ruger 22/45. It is much lighter than the mkIII due to the polymer frame. My son (7) shoots my mkIII, but has to off of a bag because it is far too heavy to hold and shoot. If you can handle the looks of it, this would probably be the way to go 22/45 Lite.

Smith and Wesson makes a nice .22 plinker. I use a Ruger Mark III and love it. Browning has a very nice one as well. All depends on how much you want to spend. Some can get very expensive. You want something lightweight for her. These mentioned can be handled with ease.

Agreed. The 22/45 is the best .22 pistol made IMO and the new Lite model seems to be exactly what the OP needs.

good luck finding one :( But yeah, I would recommend a 22/45 for a 9yo for one simple reason. All the moving parts are contained inside a fixed shell.

Kids should be focused on fundamentals rather than moving parts... its easier to charge the bolt too. The last thing I want is for a 9yo to be responsible for is racking the slide. This way she can charge the bolt without ever taking the muzzle off the target.
