Nurses are a direct link for most of us. They administer shots, meds, bandages etc. They sooth and also infuriate.

They also don't make the big bucks, which for a lot of people adds an element of corruption to the guys who do. And nurses don't get sued for malpractice.

Do you understand what it's saying? Do you understand that even placed in the top 10 didn't mean the profession had a high rating of ethical standard? I'm getting the feeling nobody is taking the time to understand the data at all.

Obviously no one polled INGOers. Then again, we will find that members here are probably not a fair representation of the general masses. We operate in the "INGO bubble".

I'd have to rate INGO's collective critical thinking skills n the low/very low category if this thread is any indication. :):

You must be new here . :welcome: to :ingo:

I think the point is that we don't respect anyone any more. There is no group that we view with any real esteem. We have seen every group fall from our good graces at some point in time. Our society has changed a lot in the last generation. We have been told over and over that character doesn't matter. But any failure of character is put on display for all the world to see if the person isn't a member of the protected group. So when we look through that group we are reminded of all the bad members of of each that we have read about over the years.

I think personal experiences would shape their views too.

To the bolded: And that's exactly what the graphic is telling us.

The problem is that based on the questions raised about the data, it is absolutely clear that people didn't give it enough attention. It's either that or they don't know what it's saying. I'd like to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they're just being lazy. But I'm starting to have my doubts. :dunno:

The graphic I posted CLEARY shows that a majority of the professions are not seen as trustworthy, regardless of their ranking. Yet most of the responses on here can't seem to differentiate between a ranking based on the number of votes received and the actual number of votes. Is it really that hard to understand?

Not for me. I can geek and second guess somebody's data with the best of them...30+ years training as an engineer will do that to you:D

I, for one, didn't catch the drift of the discussion you were seeking.

Wasn't seeking any particular drift. Just appalled at the apparent lack of understand of what the data is really saying. I admit it's not the most intuitive nugget of information, but it's not rocket science either.

I know it's really a non-issue. I know I'm making a mountain out of the proverbial mole hill. But these kinds of illogical thought processes are a pet peeve of mine. I'm a little OCD about it. Some people have knick knacks. I have logic and thought patterns. What's a girl to do? :dunno:

This is completely relevant. The data is set up as a sort of "ranking" as to what kinds of professions employ shady people, and which ones are shadier than the rest. While I admit, this is a pretty sh1++y poll to conduct, its kind of misleading just to throw this sign up there. In fact, this is how certain polls get their desired results. I think its really easy to throw this up on a wall on the internet and treat everyone like theyre idiots for not understanding why you put it up there. I can put up some kind of information and have people crap on it all day, then turn around and say "you guys are all boners, I put this up there to show how this poll reflects on all the excess time we have on our hands". But I guess I just dont have that much time on my hands.

I have logic and thought patterns. What's a girl to do?

Im sure mommy is very proud.

Tangents don't surprise me. People trying to answer with it's painfully obvious they haven't a clue does. Well, I'm not really surprised that it happens. Just that it was so darn prevalent in this thread.
