People want to claim their opposition to amnesty isn't about voter suppression or politics but it was just put into text above.

Apparently you need to brush up on your reading comprehension because that is exactly NOT what that says. Would you please explain to this simpleton how one can suppress the "voting rights" of non-citizens?

That would be a hell of a trick.

Im all for a path to citizenship, so long as that path includes, rudimentary education (GED minimum), learning english and civil service.

I think it would be ideal in the major immigration cities to have small immigration conclaves or subdivisions, the children get free education, the families get free rent, the parents learn english and a trade, They work to improve our infrastructure and earn a wage that is not minimum wage $7.80+ an hour, and in 6 months or so they all stand before the stripes and with lady liberty as their witness they take the oath of citizenship..

By the end of the time they will have at least a high school education, be experienced and knowledgable in a profession or trade, have a small savings amount built up and be ready to be assimilated into the great melting pot that is America.

What? No backrubs? Fine European Chocolates? I think that's the least they deserve for breaking into this country. What are you a bigot? And maybe we can be more like Britain and give them million dollar mansion. I'd hate to see them have anything but the best on our tax dollar, right?

I say deport them all and hand each one an AR-15 and 5,000 rounds of ammo on their way back to fix their country.

I think Eric Holder was one step ahead of you on that one.

Overall I don't think either party is going to say no to amnesty. Why? Because they're both drooling over the largest voting bloc up for grabs. To hell with American principles and citizens, there's votes at stake!

By the time the next election comes along most of the illegals will have self deported. Between the crummy healthcare for the moochers and lack of jobs for the workers they will have no reason to stay.

And famously regretted it calling it one of the worst decisions he made as president.

Ed Meese Says Reagan Regretted 1986 Amnesty | VDARE.com

As I have no doubt anything that happens with Dear Leader in office will be horrific and Republicans will race to betray us the best possible option seems to be to keep the issue on the burner and hope that somehow it will be dealt with by adults. And by adults I mean: secure the border and turn off the financial magnet through E-verify or some such.

If you think amnesty is a good idea just say so. I for one, with a lot of years experience working in kitchens all over the country with many, many illegals feel confident it would be a death knell for this nation.

Everify? right, just like we need universal background checks aka registration to keep guns away from criminals.

Everify is proof people will support anything that"sounds good" regardless of how effective it might be.

More b.s. that will burden small business, infringe on the Rights of citizens and do nothing to solve problems.

Death kneel? You mean to say that 15-20 million is ok now but death later? The last half dozen presidents have done jack and crap and you expect us to believe that's going to change?

Secure the border? Your one of those fence people aren't you? LOL! Again, more ideas that don't work and won't without solutions.

You must own a fence company and have stock in Walmart. Otherwise, none of that makes sense.

You never heard of Ronald Reagan have you?

He signed off on one of the most insane amnesty programs ever devised, don't act like this is new ground.

I wasnt, i just dont like the idea of rewarding people for breaking the law

This is like saying it's too late to close the barn door because half the horses have ran off.

The problem is they arent closing the barn door, they are letting the rest "escape"

Like social insecurity, this isn't an issue that will be pleasant to deal with, but at some point, it's going to happen. One way or another.

Would you rather it be addressed now, with some say in how it's done, or later by an E.O. from dear leader and friends just in time for the 2016 election?

It DOES need to be addressed, but only because the laws on the books havent been enforced since the 80's (if ever). Im not sure how i would go about this, but i would probobly start by deporting the known criminals. Theres really no point in this path for citizenship stuff if we arent going to enforce our borders.

Considering the ones who come here illegally get free health care, free basic education and reduced college tuition, housing benefits, food benefits, drivers license (in many states), and other perks, giving them citizenship is only one more handout courtesy of the United States taxpayers.

Those are some great reasons to let these people become citizens. We dont waste tax money deporting them, AND they start paying taxes

Why not deport you as well then? I mean by definition all of us are immigrants anyway. Would you rather them be here illegally and pay no taxes and suck down the welfare system or let them better this nation by the sweat on their back and earn their right to call themselves american. Think of it as 6 months of constitutionally acceptable slavery. and in 6 months they become a citizen and our infrastructure becomes that much better. And I assure you pouring concrete on an interstate for 8.5 and hour is not a cushy cozy lifestyle.

Some of these people have no options other than to make the perilous trek to hope and try for a second chance here. Escaping the cartels to the south, genocide in africa, communism in the east and dictators in the west.

Whats really funny is people complain about illegal immigrants but forget entirely wet foot dry foot in florida.

Am I a bigot? LMAO. I understand what was meant by the following.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I think perhaps before speaking we should first look to our own immigrant heritage first.

We have but few options when it comes to immigration

As usual, laws hurt the law abiding. Try to come here legally? Bend over and wait forever. OR... just swim the river and you are golden! They definitely need to reform the current system. Many of these "illegals" are hard working productive members of society. If we legalize them then they have the opportunity to pay taxes for the services they are already getting for free. Hell, I've met a lot more worthless US birthed "citizens" than I have illegals.

MAny of these people come here looking for a better life for their family just like most of our ancestors did. They vote Dems because the Republicans are always trying to kick the back out. Can you blame them?

Our great Constitutional Republic is being overrun, our borders are open, our laws ignored.Who is to blame? We all are. Our children are victims of a school system that promotes unrealistic ideas, socialism, and somehow causes them to look down on the idea that there is honor in honest labor.Workers will fill a labor vacuum...

On a side note .... will giving these illegals citizenship stop them from sending millions of dollars back to their home countries or will they continue to do so?

Why would they, when (as a new citizen) they can bring all of their family up here? So the 15-20 million new US citizens may become 50 million. It might be easier just to annex Mexico.

help me out here, how does allowing them to stay and work/pay taxes and putting them at the back of the line (if they chose to go through the process) equate to "endorsing a path to citizenship"?

He's simply dealing with the reality of the situation.

In retrospect we should have just kept it after the Spanish American war. MAkes you wonder if we'd have all these problems today...

We have occasionally gone through sort of anti-colonial small "r" republicanism in our distant past. I am not sure if that is good or bad in the case you raise.

Because 20years of factory work in the US = Retirement Ranch in Mexico.

Don't get it confuses... Mexican's like Mexico... they just don't like being broke in Mexico.
