That is a good choice. I like the fact that you are taking a class as soon as you got the pistol. I have seen way to many people out at ranges who buy a new gun then think they know it all from watching Die Hard movies.
Excellent first pistol choice... if you aren't comfortable with carrying a handgun without safeties, as all defensive pistols should not have, this will help gear you towards that with good trigger finger discipline and a few passive safeties. There will be haters but you can tell them to cram it with walnuts.
