As above. "Progressive" sounds good. The word progress has positive connotations so it makes them sound like they're working towards goals that are good for the people.

    Pro Gun= "Lobbyists"
    Anti-Gun="Activists"

The NRA being "Lobbyists" and the "anti-gun folk being referred to as "Activists" is one way the media get the sheep to do their bidding

The news agencies are working at the other end of the spectrum as well. They are taking great pains to describe and label the jihadist groups as "Conservative". And when they refer to the Communist party members in China (for example), they always call them the "hard-liner Conservatives". Which makes no sense, but they do it anyway.

Try not to use Leftist and Liberal interchangeably. JFK was a Liberal. Karl Marx was a Leftist. "Progressive" is them trying to control the language, the more "modern" version of Liberal.

There's nothing "Liberal" about our current parties. Call they accurately what they are - Socialists.

Maybe it'll evolve into some new term in the future, I don't know. They have a strong mix of Communist, Socialist, Marxist, Fascist tendencies. I just call them the enemy.

Liberal, progressive, leftist all equal socialists who don't believe in the American system of free enterprise. These, along with the Republican statists, believe that people cannot be allowed to make decisions for themselves and must be dictated to by the government for the good of all. They believe in rooting out individualism and self-sufficiency in favor of collectivism and oppression. These are the people who are actively driving citizens into the dependent class so as to control them. Therefore the actual definitive word would be traitor.

If the shoe doesn't fit, squeeze it on harder. Birds away, you are out of your mind. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Well, maybe a little.

Especially coming from someone retired from the military, don'tcha think? I particularly like the irony of this line:

progressive insurance is run by progressives, just in case anyone didnt know, i found that out a while back an immediately dumped them, and when asked why i told the lady on the phone its because of their political affiliation and would gladly pay more somewhere else instead of contributing to left wing nut job organizations. the term liberal is too negative so they are switching it, i will say one thing, the democrat party is a master at marketing and fooling their voters into believing their lies.

Actually, the way I understood the term "conservative", the use of "hard-liner Conservatives" may be correct. As I understood the term, American political "conservatives" generally are in favor of the "traditional" American governmental principles of less federal government interference in the lives of its citizens and States and more personal freedom, in the face of pressures to increase the power of the federal government. Chinese Communist "conservatives" want to preserve the Party's "traditional" total dominance over its citizens in the face of pressure to allow its citizens more personal and economic freedom.

Curious Manatee: Do you have a retirement account? Did your employer contribute to it? If so, what makes a military retirement different from what your employer contributed to your retirement?

I'm self employed and have funded my "retirement" since I was 50. Actually, I've funded my entire existence since I was 17.

My comment was more directed at someone who criticizes others for not making decisions for themselves. My view of the military is that almost no one makes decisions for themselves. They follow orders. At least we did when I was in the service.

What I find most amazing about this website is that there are a few who post regularly and they have very strong opinions. When someone disagrees with them, they act like a pack of wild dogs, pooping on their lawn, and then noisily barking and running off until the next comment comes along that they disagree with.

I'm old enough to know what "American Values" are, since I'm into my 7th decade on this planet. What you all have is: an opinion and ONE vote. You certainly have the right to speak your mind, but you must also recognize most people don't agree with you….at least not to the extent of calling their fellow Americans 'traitors' because they don't believe the things you do, or look like you, or have your education or wealth.

No. I think I understand America very well. And I thank God that most don't feel as you do.

:ugh: So let me get this right. Folks who believe differently from you are gullible and naïve persons duped into a belief set by clever manipulators? And you, of course, are an intelligent, informed person who has come to the truth based upon the independent power of your own superior mind?

    Right.

By the way, capitalization is your friend.
