Sounds too easy, but i'm taking you guy's word for it...
I'm not sure i understand your question but my thinking was that when a firearm is purchased and the 4473 has been filed the record is kept on file by the ATF. Could be that i'm ignorant of this but my question was how to "undo" the record or are you saying there is no record in the first place? Please advise what ATF records show that an individual owns a particular firearm?
So how would you prove that you no longer own the firearm? You can have all the 4473's you want but without an FFL, I doubt the FBI will do a check for you...
It sounds too easy because most people have been conditioned to believe that it needs to be difficult for some reason.
You don't have to take our word for it, you can read the laws if you like.
18 U.S.C. § 922 : US Code - Section 922: Unlawful acts
IC 35-47-2-7 Prohibited sales or transfers of ownership
ATF Online - Firearms - Frequently Asked Questions - Unlicensed Persons
If you're worried, do a bill of sale.So how would you prove that you no longer own the firearm?
