Price check on polish tantal.

As stated above, what would be a good price for a polish tantal? I was out and about today and saw one at a range for sale for $799. It was a century and I seem to remember them being in the $400-$500 price range but I haven't seen them for sale in awhile and figured they weren't coming in any more.

Seems a little high for a century, but I don't know. I don't sell anything of mine. I do know that I have one that I built. It came out very nice and I wouldn't even thinking about letting it go for that. It's a pretty cool piece.

Their early Tantals had problems, not sure if there is a serial number range of the ones affected or not.

^ Agreed. Century put .223 barrels on them rather than .222, thus making them "open choke" and keyhole. Unless it has a Polish barrel, I wouldn't go near it, especially for that much. Save $200 more, and buy an SLR104

I'm aware of the issues century had with these and the guy offered to let me shoot it to make sure all's good as long as I was a serious buyer. I told him I'd have to check around first and he said the offer to shoot it would stand. There's something about the tantals that just appeals to me but I was just wondering if the prices on them have really shot up that much or if their guy was off his rocker. So the question still stands, what would a problem free tantal go for these days? Oh and thanks for all the replies so far.

You can buy a kit minus barrel for around $300 or less, so with barrel + receiver, you could build one for less than $550. There are several on gunbroker for $800 with no bids, so it seems he is asking too much
