My sister is looking into getting a gun for her personal protection. She would prefer a revolver but is still open to other options. She is comfortable shooting a 357 but thats about as big a bang as she's willing to go. Here's the thing--she wants it to be pretty (go figure.) Not pink. Just pretty.

I know that a Kimber is a "pretty" gun, but tho I've never owned one I have heard bad things. So, any ideas on some handgun models that you think qualify as "pretty" and still have the quality and reliability that would make it a good sidearm?

Sig P239 .40S&W in rainbow iridescent? I think they are beautiful with the rosewood grips on em. Check out the p238 rainbow to see the rosewood grips.

I guess it does have some pink though, so maybe no go? Just one i would pick for a pretty gun though.

My wife bought this 38 special as her carry firearm. It's very light!

she can make whatever she gets "pretty"... like a Ruger SP101 with different grips or even engraving on it. She could even make a Glock "pretty" I have a Kimber and it's gorgeous - I put aftermarket wood grip panels on it. I also love shooting it - not problems at all.

As far as "pretty" is concerned, I really like the looks of a stainless revolver with Rosewood grips. Here is an example (yes I know this particular model isn't what she will want, but it will give you an idea of what the color scheme is.)

1911's have a very classic look and many of them are beautiful. I really like style and again stainless with wood grips looks great.

I think the Ruger SP101 is pretty stock and is one of the better looking revolvers. There are lots of grip options to personalize it.
Have you seen the engraved edition from Ruger?

They aren't cheap, but can be found used.

What about some sort of 1911? There is nothing prettier as far as semi-autos go, she could even do a commander sized one if need be. Possibly a 9 mm? I never found .45 uncomfortable to shoot though.
