Good idea. With Peak Oil being considered a reality, it's at least good for us to know just how much is left down there.

Obama is also promoting nuclear power. Nuclear power makes electricity which is used to power electric cars. Obama seems to be taking steps to get us off foreign oil.

They are, but due to lack of cost-effectiveness, they're not outputting at anything coming CLOSE to peak efficiency. Should have clarified this in my earlier post. Discussed that issue with Jack Layton. He's rather insane in my book.

From what I can tell from some of the initial analysis is that this opens a tiny area as a payoff to Lindsay Graham, but closes down much of the area that had been theoretically open under Bush, but hadn't yet been drilled. On the radio today, one of our Congressmen here said that according to the map he saw, this deal opens a tiny spec of an area, while closing most of the rest of the coastline.

This appears to be more newspeak.

I agree it would be a GOOD thing for this country. I just question Obama's motives...

His motives for this is just a ploy. What is the single thing people biotch about the most.....GAS PRICES. Reduce gas prices and people start to forget about the Health care reform.

That is exactly what I was thinking! Obummer POed alot of voters off with the healthcare, now it is time for damage control. First step, defend your plan that got folks upset to begin with. Second step, make it possible so they can keep driving their gas guzzlers for another decade, albeit the plan will take time, it doesn't matter: It's moral effects are immediate.
