Well, I know there are many issues with the Pop Guns range, but here is the latest insult to cusomers.

I went there last night for a special occasion. We had 9 shooters and had requested several lanes. Pop Guns was not real helpful, but I am not too suprised. We out our name in the hopper to wait our turn. 2 new customers came and requested to shoot after we had put our name in. Pop Guns used this opportunity to sell 2 memberships to these customers and bump our party back in line. I understand this is their policy. I understand their desire to make money. I understand the new customers desire to not wait. I do not understand Pop Guns wishing to tick off 9 customers for the sake of 2 when they knew full well this was a special celebration. One of the party had called and tried to work things out in advance. We had purchased ammo and targets. We were paying for several lanes. This is just irritating!

Pop Guns will never get annother penny from me again, if I can help it. There is no reason to treat paying customers this poorly! Pop Guns range is overpriced, dangerous and I will vote with my feet. :xmad:

While we are not open during the week, Eagle Creek Pistol Range has 20 lanes open on the weekends, open 9-5, 1 hour passes are $10, all day pass is $25, heck get a 10 visit pass (good for 10 WHOLE DAY PASSES) for $75!!! Outside of gun rental and shooting during the week, why waste your time at inferior ranges? :D :D

I like the range at Indy Trading Post, it is small, 5 lanes. However, the guys there are friendly and appreciate your business. I have never felt that POP guns gave a crap about anything but $$$$!

Yep, Indy Trading Post is my choice (close and when I do not shoot rifle). I will check out Eagle Creek too!

Pops sucks and you experienced a good example of why. At ECPR you get right in, no wait and fully staffed by helpful, certified RSO's. That way you can concentrate on YOUR shooting and let someone ELSE make sure that everyone around you is being safe so you don't have to worry about it.

Yep, same experience here. Pop's didn't seem too interested in my business. :(
I went to Indy Trading Post last Thursday and my experience was quite different. The lanes were clean, the shooters area was well lit, and the staff was friendly.:)
Plus I didn't have to go to 38th & Lafayette Rd. either.

I was part of the group with Dorky_D last night. I'd like to add that when they gave us three lanes that we couldn't get the motorized target hangers to work on two of them. I guess that's not bad if you want to practice your point blank techniques, but we would prefer to shoot at a target a bit further out. We would definitely have opted for the ITP range if the logistics had worked out. I'm glad to know we have even more options now with Eagle Creek and the soon to be Beech Grove Firearems range too.

You could also get with a member of Marion Co. Fish & Game & go there as a guest. $10 per person & you could probably get a bay all to yourselves.

Well if you'd gone to 38th & Lafayette you'd have been at Don's which is even worse than Pops lol

That's one reason Brian at Indy Trading Post decided to not do memberships when he opened his range! We've all heard a lot of complaints about people getting bumped back to let " members " jump the line! That's a bunch of crap!
Also ITP is priced very well and you can get 10 half hour sessions for $60, I'm pretty sure no one else in the state comes close to his prices for an indoor range! They may get backed up a little on Saturday afternoons, but any other time, you can usually walk right on! Add to this, no bad attitudes, easy to get to south side ( Gods Country) location, and if your real lucky, you just might get to meet Dirtebiker!:D

One question: if Pops is " overpriced and dangerous...... Why would you go in the first place?:n00b:

Seems like I read somewhere that ECPR provides targets for free as well - like, all you need. Is this correct?

I think that is correct, I've only shot there once, and we took special targets with us that day so I'm not 100% sure ( just 99.9999% sure).
Also some nice guys and the boss, Guy, at ECPR!

Indy Trading Post today, no waiting. I showed up at just the right time. When I left all lanes were full. I always enjoy shooting there.

Big +1 for ITP. It has become my favorite range.

    Heh.

I wondered if this would pop up on the forums...
I was the one that bought the membership. My brother was there with me, and he didn't buy a membership; he's only 17.

It wasn't so that we could skip you guys; I was going to buy one anyway. The guy behind the counter joked about it at first, but then when I affirmed that I wanted to buy a membership he was pretty incredulous: "you're going to buy a membership just so you can shoot tonight?"

"Nope. It just happens to work out that way."

    ...
You guys looked like you had fun, despite my interference. Looked like lots of new shooters. Do you mind if I ask what was the occasion?

You had the same opportunity to buy a membership as they others did. Rules are rules. It's not fair to block paying members just because you have a large group, and for no other reason.

I have to respectfully disagree with this... "paying members" are already getting a break on the cost of their range time (assuming they shoot enough over the course of the year). I think getting preferential treatment over other non-members (who are also paying customers albeit not members) is wrong IMHO, and also a poor business model. How many more memberships might they sell if potential members had a good experience at their range without being bumped to the back of the line? I'm glad ITP opened up their range. They did it right I think. Hopefully Beech Grove Firearms' range will do something similar when they open.
