I would hope that if Bernie had the nomination, enough older voters would have chose a half axx Republican over a full fledged Socialist, but the Democrats have slid Socialist medium for quite some time.It is still amazing in a time with the most info available in a moments time, they still do not individually investigate a candidate's past.If they had,The POtuS would not have gotten a first term, let alone a second. But again maybe I'm just a dinasaur who still see's America as it once was vs what it has depressingly became.:patriot:

They lost the election when they let Obama destroy the economy, the military, the family, and basic morality.

But did they "lose the election"?
    They almost did.
What if they put up someone with a personality that didn't insult everyone, and have so much baggage?

Bernie consistently polled better than Hillary, had a better grass roots "ground game", and had legitimate passion among his supporters. I kept telling INGO a lot of Dems were nose-holding-voters or "Not Trump" voters, they are not a monolithic block any more than we are. Hillary had a ton of baggage, Bill's legacy, the Clinton foundation, and honestly I think wiki-leaks and the feeling that the primaries were tilted in her favor despite what the rank and file wanted turned off a lot of potential Democrat voters. I don't know if the "oppose socialism" message that the Republicans would have likely played would have mobilized more votes against him or not, but I do think he had a much better chance than Hillary.

Would the smear campaign against Trump been as mean? How would Trump have campaigned differently with Bernie as an opponent? A lot of variables we will never know for our little game of What If.
I don't think the smear would have been as vehement, and I think that would have hurt Trump's campaign. The constant insulting of the "basket of deplorables" vulcanized their position. The contempt shown to Trump's supporters was a fantastic source of motivation that I think turned many silent supporters into active campaigners.

When you're under attack, you double down.

One of the reasons Hillary lost is that African-Americans did not turn out for her in large enough numbers. One of the reasons Bernie lost to her in the primaries is that she did better than him with African-Americans. Whatever he would have gained from the youth vote over her, he may have lost even more with African-Americans.

Sanders would have won. Michael Moore called this election months ago during a panel discussion that included Bill Maher. Moore stated at that time that the biggest thing Trump had going for him was that he was going into these union, blue collar areas and that those folks really sided with Trump on the jobs issue. He said during that show that every single white male that wasn't a leftist was going to come out and vote for Trump, and that is pretty much what happened. Enough people in the more rural counties outside the major urban centers voted for Trump to keep the overwhelming liberal city vote taking the lead. Moore has also said this isn't about race because a good portion of those white folks voted for a black man eight years ago.

I think Moore is correct. I do believe that most people anymore are socialist in some fashion. They want their government to provide for them, be it healthcare, jobs, infrastructure, etc.. Clinton was the biggest hypocrite they could find. She represents the status quo of the Democrat way of living: You either make it and make it big, make it by a thread and if you don't save and lose a job your done, or you enjoy your various welfare benefits. The status quo Democrat logic is "So what if you don't have anything. We feed you, house you, give you healthcare, shut-up!"

Greedy Republicans and their bogus trickle down economics were destroyed by Trump in the primary. The general election was a complete destruction of the Democrats and their trickle up welfare state economics.

You can't have someone worth tens of millions go out and claim she is for a party which represents the poor and oppressed while she has done nothing with that wealth to actually help people. Traditional Democrats are all about making their personal bank accounts as large as possible, then turning around and pretending to care about the middle class. They always make sure them and theirs are taken care of. Had Sander's been the candidate he would have won. The problem is the greedy rich with their wealth hordes feared a true guy who would have taxed their seven figure income and stock options at likely 50% or more.

And with all of this you still voted for her.
I read the post again and again, and that's my conclusion, too. I agree with it being his vote to use as he chooses, obviously, but dang, he's not the first person I've heard of that lists all the horrible qualities of hillary, then go on to say they voted for her! It just boggles my mind!

Really? You didn't have any reservations about voting for Trump? He's the perfect candidate? Nothing to worry about?

As for the original question, I suspect that Bernie may have had a better chance than her. These children you see in the streets with tears and signs may have given him the added votes needed. I wonder what a race between Trump and Biden would have looked like.

I never said I had no reservations voting for trump, but I'll tell you this, if he had a criminal history as long as hillary, and had publicly said most of us were "deplorable", I damn sure wouldn't have voted for him.

Bernie is too nice to run a smear campaign(*). Heck, he even endorsed Hillary after she bent him over and went in lube free. Trump usually only got nasty when it was to his advantage and only for as long as it was to his advantage. If Trump had started to smear Bernie it would have backfired and invigorated Bernie's supporters as opposed to Trump's smear of Hillary making her voters question their choice.

(*) while it is refreshing to see a non-nasty politician, sadly that does not win elections.

Bernie would have won handily as he was in agreement with Trump on things that are ultimately responsible for screwing the middle class, but he would have had the whole of the media behind him supporting him.

Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset either way the election went with him, he seemed to understand the divide between rural and urban people and didn't wish to brow beat people for not living in cities.

Biden would have shot himself in the foot repeatedly and imploded his own campaign, he doesn't have the skills to navigate out of a mess when he creates it.

Either Biden or Bernie would have been more likeable. Well, a bear with a sore tooth would have been more likeable then HRC.
