Remington 870 is hard to beat for a solid general purpose shotgun.

I have a 870 Wingmaster magnum and it's both a beautiful gun and extremely reliable.

I love Remington 870 or any of their shotguns plus any of their guns in general. Mossy 500 tactical for home protection along with my bulldogs which have went after a home intruder years back and the ******* also had to dodge getting shoot at
from me. But my H&R shotgun is the gun I use the most to be honest and it works just a good as my remington plus you can't beat the price for such a very basic gun. Most of my money goes into rifles and hand guns so when I need to get a shotgun to go duck hunting years back I pick up the H&R as a joke to the guys I was going hunting with since they had high price shotguns and in the end it did the job just as good as their guns. It does have more of a kick then the other guns but a recoil pad added to the back fix that for a total price of under 215.00's

P.S. to make a long story short a few years ago someone decide to walk into my house around 1am right after I went out to get more wood for my stove. After I put the wood down I turned around to go and shut the garage and their was this person standing in my hallway about 25 ft away. I also aiways have a gun ready and it was about 3 feet from me so as I jump to the ground to get it my dogs seen him and went after him which caused him to run off but not after I took a shot at him. This all happen in less then a few seconds so it wasn't easy to get an accurate shot off for all you arm chair QB's who think you could of hit him. The police said even though the area is a safe area their are some sex offenders living in the area als and gave me a site to go on to see were they live.

I don't get into the tactical shotgun thing and own a LOT of hunting shotguns. Love having lightweight 20ga doubles for quail, fast 20ga auto loaders for dove, love the Savage 220 slug gun.....

But if I had only one it would be the Benelli SBE II. Most versatile gun I've ever owned. Never jams and shoots 2 3/4 low brass as well as 3 1/2 inch turkey loads.

As for the dog? See pic at left. First AKC MH pass at 13 months old. Got her MH title at 16 months old.

Browning BPS and an Airedale Terrier! It don't get any better than that. Oh, wait! I already have both of those - guess I'm good to go.
