I haven't heard this particular sound bite, but I know the media mantra.
If a conservative says, "I don't like your policies," it is racist hate speech.
If a progressive says, "Kill all your right-wing neighbors, any way you can," it is free speech protected by the First Amendment.

Although not a direct quote, this has been the standard for years.

Sure, Trump's hair seems to be fair game all over the media. Carson, and Kasich run clean campaigns and it got them nothing.

I say attack it as much as possible, it just makes everyone except for Trump look stupid. You know, since that's the best argument they're producing against him.

His general point is that in 2012, Obama's really weak spot was Obamacare, and the Republicans nominated someone who basically had instituted the same thing in his state, so couldn't attack him on it. For 2016, while Hillary has the second highest disapproval rate in US history of someone running for political office, Trump has the highest disapproval numbers. He goes into it in more detail, if you are interested, including how much more Trump's fortune would be if he had taken his inheritance and just put it in guaranteed return accounts. I had not heard that analysis before.
