    Washington Post ran the numbers for 250 locations across the continental US over a 30 year period, checking to see if weather was colder (winter) or warmer (spring) in the six weeks following his prediction. It appears that their intent was to show that Phil's calls are right by no better than chance, but their graphic tells the tale. Or tail (Do groundhogs have tails?).

    Out of 250 locations, Phil's forecast was more correct in (by my count) 152 locations, and less correct in only 98.

    Well then, yet another govt agency tricking the American people:
    The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration lists Groundhog Day predictions since 1988. Only six of Phil's last 30 predictions were correct, the NOAA reported.
    How often is Punxsutawney Phil's Groundhog Day prediction correct?
