Well, I kinda wish the money would go to just those who need it. I'm not affected yet. I think eventually it'll ripple through most of the economy if we have things shut down too long. But I don't need it now. So I kinda wish they'd just give it to those who do.

Everyone knows someone in dire straits, I'm sure you can find someone to help out with the money. Much better solution than relying on government to figure out who to help and who not to.

My employer did the same thing, they just didn't call it that and didn't send out a form about it. They just took roughly that amount of pay away for the month of April. :dunno:

I think any company that is doing this and the employee is still working either at home or in the building is setting themselves up for a HUGE financial hit. That money is separate form their wages that they earn. Deducting money that is owned to a employee for work performed because they received a government stimulus check is unrelated to their job. If the employee files a claim with the state about this over lost wages,it will be costly, if memory serves me correct, any business found guilty of wage disputes will have to pay TRIPLE damages to the employee.

IANAL, but this was explained to me by a legal rep that was assisting a friend in a wage dispute.

That might be why they got in a big hurry and did it before the bill was passed, and again, they weren't dumb enough to advertise it that way. :dunno: Like I said, they could have just laid us all off, saved 100% of the salary, not be at asking of any trouble, and my goose would be well done. So... there's that. Plus, I work in RV and apparently they've done this before back in the '08-'09 struggles and they made it up to people later on. I'm not going to go biting the hand the feeds over it even if I might be able to.

Funny this came up right now though, because I found out about all of this in an email on the 24th, but I just got the mail a few minutes ago and there was a paper letter in there saying the same thing. I'd bet you a donut that's how all of the hourly people just found out they don't have a job again until the end of April. Classy.

To save money? They laid off all hourly and gave all salary a "temporary" pay cut, "for the month of April", and we're all expected to continue to work the same schedule. So, not laid off, just pay lopped by pretty much the amount of that check.

I'm not complaining, because it beats the tar out of getting laid off like a lot of people, but don't think other companies aren't doing the same thing as the folks in the story. Those are just the guys that got caught.

edit: Worth mentioning that these things didn't happen at the exact same time. My employer made their announcement a few days before the bill was passed, but it's not like we all hadn't been hearing about these checks for a week or better at that point. I'll also say again that it beats the snot out of no job.

Man that still sucks. Yeah it beats no having a job to go to, but still sucks.
