Not true when you drain a boil or an infected wound. Think 'body politic' and draining an infection to promote healing

Along those lines, an abscess fills creates a space and fills it that should not already be filled, so when it is drained, it returns to normal. The vacuum that seeks filling would result if you removed something that belongs in a space, then it's empty . . .

Better question: How did she graduate *** laude at Boston College and still know so little about Economics and International Relations (her majors).

Graduation from college used to indicate a baseline of knowledge, ability, accomplishment, and competency in at least a few specific areas. Unfortunately, it is becoming increasingly common that graduation means that your tuition was paid by some means, you showed to enough classes to justify a passing grade, and the school kept you a satisfied customer the entire time until they presented you with documentation that your tuition was paid, you showed enough to justify a passing grade, and you were satisfied enough with the product that you stayed long enough to get the documentation.
