It comes down to how much the house pays out for a blackjack, traditionally $3 for a $2 bet, but many casinos are paying $6 for a $5 bet, much better for the house…
Yeah, I think I'll just stick to buying a couple lottery tickets when the jackpots get over half a billion. I mean, less than that and it's not worth it, amirite? :):

I only play penny and sometimes quarter slots, and I don’t think I’ve ever played more than 25-30 dollars in a casino visit. I will usually quit if hit anything more than what I put in.

Several years back, we went to Beltarra to see Gregg Allman, and after the show we decided to hit the casino for a few minutes. I bought a beer just outside the casino entrance and walked in and put 3 dollars in the closest slot to the door, first pull I hit $96 (if my memory is correct), we turned right around hadn’t even taken a drink of my beer yet, and walked out. Sat at the little bar there and had a few more beers. Good times.

The lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math.
Not as bad as playing slots though.

    The house always wins.
Unless, you went in with a set amount of money they was your entertainment budget, and you had fun spending it. Then you both win.

When in Vegas I normally sightsee and go to shows. Lots to do and people watching is high fun after midnight.

So I check in the hotel. Go to the keno area and place my money on a nights worth of keno games. Walk around find a sports book and place some bets.

In the morning I will check the keno ticket and get breakfast or lunch depending on my Party ways. Once we were very loud and boisterous all night and when I went to check my tickets and the girl at the main counter said. "I need to see your ID" I thought I was in trouble for what happened the night before. Nope she hard to take out taxes on my keno winnings. I paid for the trip (plane tickets for 2) all meals (for 4to 6) for 2 1/2 days drinks for 4 (2 1/2 days) the Phish concert (Oct 31 1998) and my wedding at the silver bell wedding chapel Oct 28 1999). I still have spending money when we arrived home but I do not think I hit a single winner and lost a bit on the roulette table.

Here in Indiana I now play the ponies and the sports book mainly. I will do hit the blackjack tables and have called the gamblers hotline to ask if I should double down on 7's.

If you want to learn the basic of blackjack they normally have a class at the casino as to how everything works what you can touch and what you can not. How to bet ect.

I used to be into blackjack, know the odds for every situation and move and how they change based on the subtle difference in house rules. The everyone went to a constantly shuffling shoe. It no longer mattered if you could track a favorable or non-favorable 6 deck shoe and it killed a good part of the fun.
Its generally only on the lower cost per hand tables, so with using the shuffling shoe the odds can go from the house having a 3% advantage giving 6 to 5 payout and the house ends up with around a 9.7% advantage.
Its done with those that are not well versed in math, or just don't care.
My girl plays single or double deck with cards just in a shoe, shoe is done and they get reshuffled. That pays 3 to 2.
I just got off the phone with her so I might have messed up with some of these numbers, but I believe I'm correct.

I cannot play card games not smart enough. However my wife is a semi pro gambler. Her mom was a big time card shark taught my wife at the age of six or so.
When we’re stationed at Ft.Sill we had two casinos in town and one like 40 miles away. She used to go around payday and clean up on poker.

Her tactics were to not be confident and act dumb. She would throw several hands. Then pounce often causing people to hit the atm several times. Until they caught on then she would switch tables. In poker tournaments she won 50k twice in a year so we paid off our house.

She is an absolute master at blackjack she knows how to hit and split and all that stuff. She always places the side bet and tips the dealer. When I play she hits my knee to hit twice to hold. We have been politely asked to leave a table a few times. Pitt boss said you guys look hungry here is an unlimited voucher for the steakhouse. She started with $100 and ended up with 20k I started with the same and was up 10k.

She sets a limit for spending cash no cards allowed. Never gamble if you can’t throw the cash in a fire and feel good about it.

I normally play the .25 cent slots and drink beer. She however is at work bringing home the bacon.

I loved rainy days when I was a roofer. We'd play dealer's choice, 25 cent ante and $2 limit, no wild cards. Most often we played Spit in the Ocean, 4 cards in your hand, 3 in common on the table.

I was on the Belle Terra 10 years ago. Did lousy at craps (they practically screamed when I put both hands on dice, I had no clue), lost 2 or 3 hands of blackjack, but much to my surprise I got well on the roulette wheel.

The way to win at poker is to enjoy it.

I loved the slots in the e club in japan and the slots in the bars on bc street.

You remind me of when I would play pinochle or euchre with my Aunt. She would always give me a breakdown of what I did wrong after each hand. I should’ve known this by what she bid or how she played to lead this first…
