At least knowing that the child is at Riley's, it is pretty certain that the best care available is being provided.

He is doing better. Still don't know why everything is happening. Not in ICU anymore. Just said parents spending first Christmas with their babies in hospital.

I have seen both sides of the CPS coin, and it is not an easy decision to get them involved. CPS has to respond first to reports from medical personnel, especially when a child is in the ER and presents with "odd or unusual" symptoms. Unfortunately, they won't keep the parents in the loop until the authorities are certain that the child is no longer in a dangerous environment. It is for the child's safety. There are so many cases where a child is brought in by an hysterical parent, and the parent caused the trauma. Or the parent's boyfriend/girlfriend/neighbor, etc. There is an actual disorder where a parent keeps a child sick so that the parent can get attention. Doctors are only human, too, but they don't take any chances when children could be in a harmful or unhealthy environment. OP, please take this info with a grain of salt, no harm is intended.
