I recognize your point but must respectfully disagree. I think its all in what you get used to. Pick a gun, or a couple :) that you will carry always and carry them. My two primary carry guns are buth polymer frames and I never forget them

My XDm .40 weighs 32oz. with empty mag.
An M1911 weighs 39 oz. with empty mag.

I'm willing to bet that 17 rounds of .40 S&W weigh at least 7oz. more than 8 rounds of .45 ACP

So, what was your argument again? Are you complaining that these newfangled bakelite thingamajigs carry too many rounds or are too easy to maintain? Are you worried about the presence of drop safeties or the absence of exposed hammers? Maybe you dislike corrosion resistance?

    I'm confused...

    BINGO!!!!!!!!!

Think it still feels lightweight on his hip now?

it ain't the gun that kills the bad guys.... it's the bullets.

Besides, I like not worrying about about rust, bent mags

Carry what you like and I will do the same... while we still can...

I own one all steel revolver and 3 plastic pistols. All four are carried and yes I can tell I'm carrying by the weight of the mags, bulets, and slide.

    :):
I doubt anyone actually READS entire threads before posting.
Otherwise they'd realize it isn't about the guns at all, but a poorly worded inquiry after mental training/techniques.
Lesson of the day? Don't post when you're braindead. :D

I actually read the entire thread & these quotes from your posts are what lead to my 1st post in this thread:

    "My problem with polymer frames..."

"...recently tried carrying some poly guns only to think "I should grab a gun" when I'm already wearing one."

"With a steel frame you don't have to remember, it's just there."

You kept coming back to your belief that a plastic framed handgun weighed significantly less than a steel framed handgun. That's false, as I showed above.

Your issue isn't with polymer frames, it's with smaller/lighter handguns. Period. You would do well to not confuse the two.

Simple suggestion if you're so forgetful about carrying a firearm. Affix some weights to your holster until it nags you enough that you don't forget.

Of note: The braindead comment was for me (for making the first post)

I'm not confusing smaller/lighter with polymer. All else equal (frame size, round count, etc), the steel weighs more. I never said the difference was significant.

    Good idea
Kicks self for not thinking of it

Also, politeness goes a long way. ;)
    /me drops the (non)issue
