Planning a large field fire

I have about 6 acres to burn. This year the local FD wants to watch how I set the back burn.

Last year the people driving on the State Highway thought it was the end of the world and drove the 911 operator crazy.

All I need is 4 dry days and and no wind.

Anyone else use a match to clear out the overgrowth on the fields?

If you need a hand PM me. I've done quite a few prescribed burns in the past. I've let my red card (wildland firefighter) lapse because the fun is mostly for the younger guys, but I'm still game if you need me.

Chain a tire to your truck, light it and drive around the outside. Make sure you bolt it o. So it doesn't come off. Grandpa did this in Oklahoma to burn off wheatfield stubble.

Use to do a lot of controlled burns when I was in Quail Unlimited. To this day the thing that amazed me the most was the noise and the wind that proceeded the wall of flames.
