Add to that most area codes I do not recognize. If it is an emergency (if so my cell will ring, or the wife's) they can leave a message with pertinent info.
I no longer posses the energy required to mess with these people.

Scutter01, you are the man. The script is not a bad idea if I could keep a straight face.

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    I got a call-back!

The same spammer just called me back. I'm assuming it was the supervisor this time since he actually hung up on me. When I asked him how much he was paying, he said "$100". I said "My rates are $50 for the first five minutes and $25 for each additional five minutes. For your stated $100, you will receive 15 minutes of my time. How will you be paying this evening?" His response: "You see how silly that sounds?" *click*

I'm not sure what point he was trying to prove. I'm not filling out a survey for free. You wanna pay someone to conduct market research but won't pay the subject? My opinion and my time are worth something to me. Just because YOU don't value them is not my problem.

I always tell them "give me your home phone number and I'll call you back when you get off of work." They always say "Well, I can't do that!" "Why not? You've got my home phone number, why can't I have your's?"

Years ago I spent the better part of 20 minutes discussing vinyl siding improvements to a telemarketer who wanted to upgrade my long distance package. :D
