As soldiers, serving your country, how do you, as an ex-soldier, serve your country? McCain served by going into politics. Kerry also served our country and also went into politics. What do we, as ex-soldiers and ordinary citizens, do?

I try to sound alarms to my friends but have been impressed by their total lack of interest. The alarms I see are to the Constitution, from past administrations and the present. Some of these friends are very, very intelligent, yet there is absolutely no level of alarm. None what so ever.

As a Tea Party participant, I am looked upon as if I had wasted my time. To tell the truth, I am ready to march on Washington! Maybe that will be my level of involvement other than showing up at the City County building for particular votes.

Besides posting on this forum, what have you done and what are you willing to do?

I came off active duty and joined the Guard. Informed others of issues I think should cause alarm and always try to get new people out to shoot. I think that the other countries I "visited" were frightening examples of what we could turn into if we let our rights be brushed aside.

I screwed up my chances to serve. I was young and dumb. I regret that. I wish very much that I could serve my Country. I'd do almost anything to have that chance. But since I cannot I too have joined up with the Tea Party. I am on a committee, I'm handing out fliers, educating people, steering them our way opening their eyes, writing/calling my reps and urging others to do so, and anything else that I can possibly do to help my community.

I understand your frustration and I wish you luck with this thread.

I've asked this forum many times the same question as highlighted above. I never get much of a response, especially from those with good reputations.I understand that most people here would like to stay below the radar, but just being on here has screwed that pooch. The time to stand up is now. Just writing your reps is not enough. They obviously don't listen. The time to get involved is now.

The Indy Defenders of Liberty is such as resource to take a stand and get involved. We are not Demotards or Republitards. We are Americans who are fed up with more of the same crap every 4-8 years. Red or Blue there is no difference. It's time for REAL change, not this socialist crap. It's time we change back to the ideals and foundations that our Founding Fathers entrusted to us.

I missed my chance to serve once, and I'm trying like hell to make up for it now. I'm still not too old, and hopefully will be enlisting before the year is out.

Should you decide to march on Washington, let me know. I'd be honored to march beside you. Its almost too late now to peaceably effect change, and the consequences of failing to act, soon, are something that causes me to loose sleep at night.

I won't sugarcoat it...I'm scared. I may be just too young or paranoid to see the bigger picture, but from what I can tell, we're either on the verge of a civil war, or at the beginning of a police state. I don't want to see either of these come to pass. I see the same lack of alarm as you do, and it is very disheartening.

Something has to be done. We have to take our country back. As to what I'm willing to do about it....I'm willing to listen to someone that has a plan to do it.

I am staying more politically aware and becoming somewhat more active than I used to be while weighing the trends of our political climate against historical examples. I keep bringing these trends up in my circle of influence. I am onboard with the Appleseed Project and encouraging new and old shooters to embrace their heritage. I give to and volunteer for what I can while striving to meet my obligations to God, country, and family with excellence.

I can't say that I am continuing to serve my country, but I do use my experiences in the Army to teach others how to become more aware in situations they may find themselves in, as well as provide opportunities for parents to share educational moments with their children.

I believe that the Appleseed Project is smart. I think that those not interested in clamoring with the politicians could provide a great service here.

I still think there is time to peacefully make change. I fear a civil war less than I fear a police state. Most people do not care enough and will maintain the status quo as long as they do not think it will affect them. The police state will creep up as "reasonable" regulations for your safety, and most will buy into it.

Strangely, in spite of all of the government regulations, the one area that seems to have been bucking the trend for the last 10 years are the gun laws. The National Parks carry got stuck into the Credit Card Bill of all things and signed by this president! Most states now have some kind of allowance for carrying a weapon.

We the People, need to keep pushing and give a clear sign in 2010 and vote for a change in the Congress. In America, it seems that the only way you can get more people to vote is to scare them or make them angry. I am both.

Freedom is neither easy nor pretty, but I wish to live free and will take care of myself if need be. Let's draw the sheep toward freedom!

I served in the army and have worked for the past 23 years as a firefighter for the military. First with the army then the air force and now the navy. In addition I worked for 3 years part time as a civilian on the battlefild, in which I helped train our troops to go to war. So I have served 29 years total for my country.

As far as in other areas I write my elected officials with my feelings and I stand 100% behind the Constitution of the United States of America and nothing else.:patriot:

I left the Army and went to work as a civilian doing the same cool job in the same hot places (Kosovo/Iraq) but with more personal freedom of movement. I still continue this type of work but without the uniform. I enjoyed my military time and experience but for me contract work was the way to go. So I guess I'm still making a contribution just without ALL of the sacrifice.

I am still in, 3 active, 19 Guard. I spend a lot of time with my younger Joes and Junior NCO's, talking about the state of our Nation. It is really suprising how many feel the same way, and talk about the same stuff we do on this board, in fact I have a few that are members here. I am insuring that when I retire, those that fill my boots have the understanding, courage and fortitude to carry on and defend the Constitution, not do anything stupid, and insure that orders are legal, before starting movement. I don't foresee any of them trying to confiscate anyones weapons!:patriot:

I got out and raised my children the way I was raised.

BTW, I absolutely hate the "tea party" name, such a great movement opportunity with a bad name. They actually have a way of motivating people but the name is too limited. Much like McCain, we gave the left something to laugh at...

I've been active in illegal immigration and other conservative movements, but never want to go in to politics, they ALL go corrupt when they get in to higher offices... it's becomes a job of getting re-elected and getting paid.

Teach your children the message our Founding Fathers based this country around. The schools are dumbing them down each generation. Notice they never teach civics any more? Educate them.... before it's too late.

I serve by getting up each day, going to work and attempting to make more money. In so doing, I keep the people I'm responsible for fed and sheltered. I make it possible for other people to make a living from what I produce. The product of my work creates efficiencies in the work of other people, which means they can produce more with the same amount of work, adding to our collective productivity, which benefits everyone. Along with my self-sufficiency and my contribution to the Nation's wealth, the government steals a lot of money from me in order to give it to some other people who don't add as much to the country's production. I belong to a proud group of people who pay more than 70% of the country's bills.

When I go to the grocery story, the people who own those groceries require me to prove to them that I have served my fellow man. I reply that I have the proof I have been of great benefit and service to my fellow man by pulling out my wallet it and giving them the document that prooves it: my money.

I serve my countrymen now, just as I did with my eleven years in the Army.
