Okay, Yeah its mostly a Michigan (Detroit) thing. But because of our proximity.. we have always been able to get it here in parts of Indiana.

Of course Kentucky also has its soda that historically spills over into Indiana distribution


Of course, I think the Vernors distribution doesn't cover Northern Indiana, and the Ale81 distribution has been spotty if you get out of Southern Indiana..


Why mention these?

They go good with Pizza with Pineapple.

Not a fan of ale 8... just couldn't figure out what it was trying to be.

Vernors is great for when I want my nose and throat to burn. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Vernor's tastes like ginger beer (first had that in Australia).

Vernors was a staple at our house, as was Squirt. My folks used them for mixed drinks.

I've bought Ale 8 in Marion and Greentown. Not a great beverage. Bought it more out of the memory of first drinking it at my grandparents farm in eastern KY.

Vernors is the only thing I consider Ginger Ale.
Every other brand tastes like fizz water.

Also liked A&W Cream Soda.
We grew up on this stuff, believe it or not, down in Atlanta, where after labor they start mother and child on an IV of Coca-Cola.
(Dad traveled a lot for business and brought copious supplies back with him.)
