Please note: This is just my base coat, I still have a few other colors and some stuff to add to it, but it does look pretty cool the way it is now too..

Anyway thank you for your time team, I’ll post up pics of the complete rifle in a week or so..

What did you think of the Duracoat process? I'm considering doing a firearm ... mainly interested in prep work. Did you phosphate anything, TruClean, etc? How much did you use doing the tan/beige color so far.

Also, interested in DuraFil ... Have you used any of that?
    Thanks, Neal

    Hey guys,
No zombies on this project.. sorry.. but it will not be your standard camo either.. trust me..

    As for the prep..
Well this was a new unfired rifle so the cleaning process was simple..
First remove all the grease and dirt off the rifle
Then I used true strip, this stuff works GREAT.. once it was dried, I used 0000 steel wool on the plastic parts, then sprayed bull dog on it.. Bull dog is a great adhesive promoter.. then mixed and sprayed the duracoat.

    (1) 4oz bottle does one rifle or two pistols..
You will wont to get the duraocat reducer too..

No I’ve never needed the durafil stuff.. Sorry cant help you there..

    First failure.. Hahahahaaa

First let me say, I’m not doing a traditional camo pattern, everyone has one, I’m going to be doing something a little different. With said different comes with many failures before true success is achieved.. Here is one of my many failures.. Hhahahahahaaa.. I’m combing a GAP with a snakeskin in a dessert colors:

Changed it from green to black

OOooooooo.. Did I mention that a GREAT thing about Duracoat is it all washes off…

That’s right!.. just incase you didn’t know that little fact, you actually have 45 minutes after its painted to decide if your going to keep it.. If you decide you don't like it then you simply soak a rag in the reducer and wipe it off the gun.. But if you wait longer than 45 minuets your SOL.. Hence the scope.. Hahahahahaa… I’ll need prep it unlike the rifle for round II..

I’m starting on the second theme this weekend, lets hope it turns out better then the last one..

    Have a great weekend everybody..

You've got skills, that is for sure. What kind of bi-pod is that - love the way it mounts? Me wants one! Looking forward to see the finished progress (and anything else you show us along the way). :yesway:

On a side note, ever considered a Zombie Camo - rotting zombie flesh camo kinda like the snake skin on the scope - to blend in with the coming Zombie revolution. You know they are demanding rights too now.

    Keep up the amazing work!
