I was surprised to see wallet fillets last time I was at our local grocery. 1 fillet per pack. All appeared to be +/- 1# packages. Thought about buying 1 to try. However knew the wife would say stupid to buy until the freezer is empty. Sooo I passed.

Ever had walleye cheeks? Those were always like a delicacy when we were up there. Of course they had to be a decent size to get the cheek filets.
Never tried them myself but know others who like them. If you fish Erie these days there are record numbers of walleye. A result is catching a lot of almost, just, and just over legal size. Not “cheek” fish.

No, those woudn't be. Man I miss going to Canada.

This is where we went, but we didn't stay at the hotel. They had cabins on a little peninsula of land on Namakan Lake, just above the dam above Rainy Lake, which is where we did all our fishing. This was back in the mid to late 70's.

Speaking of the hotel, it used to be an old logger/logging hotel. Built with green lumber that warped severely. The bar room was a trip. If you were in a booth on the opposite side of the room from the bar, you literally walked uphill and back downhill to get to the bar. A bar-sized pool table had a concrete block under one end to make it level.
