Technically you don't need to have a LTCH to have a pistol on you at your fixed place of business.
I hope you have a huge amount of capital for stock.
That seems to be the biggest issue with smaller shops.
I have a decent amount of money saved, but not an infinite amount. It would definitely start out small.

That brings up a good point though - If you are starting from scratch, how much capital would it take to start up a gun shop? I would like to have a decent inventory and a good supply of ammo.
I like to dabble in the high end stuff. Is there a market for that in Greenfield, or do I just need to stick to the tactical and run of the mill stuff?
I think that if you simply need to stock items that sell well. Period.
High end stuff can always be special ordered especially if you are giving special INGO member discounts!
i was just having this conversation/thought with my wife! as we also reside (quite happily) in grnfld and there are so few options round here. maybe i missed it but is that old gun store available? or you might be thinking something nicer...more inviting? hey man...good luck, even if you beat us to the punch! the area needs it.
You mentioned FFL transfers, as well as quick turnaround on orders. I believe the FFL transfers would be a great service right from the beginning, since it involves minimal capital investment. Don't most of the carriers deliver in the morning hours? Do you have someone who can accept the packages while you're at your day job?
Normal fees are $20, $15 seems more reasonable, and I typically pay $10
